The Cumberland Group is a consulting and training company specializing in performance improvement. We
got our start in 1981 as a quality and productivity staff group within Armco Steel
Corporation. The group 's success with Armco 's businesses drew interest from
several of Armco's customers, and in 1984 we began selling our services commercially. In
1986, the group incorporated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Armco, and in 1988 some of
its employees purchased the business from Armco.
Cumberland's professionals represent virtually all business disciplines, with experience levels ranging from the executive office to the production line, in public and private sectors, in service as well as manufacturing organizations. We are business people who have lived what we teach. We know that partnering with our customers represents the sure route to excellence in the future. We personally commit to our customers' success.
